This morning we find this unfortunate news in the horse racing industry. Hall of Fame Jockey Victor Espinoza injured after Bobby Abu Dhabi's fatal incident. https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/228650/espinoza-injured-after-bobby-abu-dhabis-fatal-incident and http://www.tmz.com/2018/07/22/jockey-victor-espinoza-injured-horse-bobby-abu-dhabi-dies-cardiac-arrest-del-mar-racing/ Bobby Abu Dhabi died from an apparent cardiac event, according to Brian Trump, the racing manager for Rockingham Ranch, which owned the Macho Uno  colt in partnership with David Bernsen.  Bobby Abu Dhabi, went into cardiac arrest while training ahead of multiple scheduled races. The horse's owner, Brian Trump, confirmed the horse had died. Trump said the Peter Miller-trained Bobby Abu Dhabi was working for a start in the July 28 Bing Crosby Stakes (G1). Sometimes horses die suddenly when they aren’t involved in athletic competition, in recent years the news of collapse and sudden death in horses competing worldwide seems to increase. We have worked since 2011, in a multidisciplinary way to elucidate the causes of sudden death in horses, and establish preventive measures with Dr. Abelardo Morales (University of Cordoba), Dr. Aniceto Mendez (University of Cordoba), Dr. Thomas Tobin (Gluck Equine Research Center-University of Kentucky), Dr. Kimberly Brewer (Private Practice Florida-USA), has worked in a multidisciplinary in the follow-up of cases of sudden death in horses of high competence, studying their causes, toxicological aspects and therapeutic proposals for the prevention of these injuries that in many cases can be catastrophic for horses and for riders, drastically affecting the horse racing industry. Some of our results are published https://www.revistas.usp.br/bjvras/article/download/98298/109247, http://www.jarvm.com/articles/Vol10Iss2/Vol10%20Iss2Tobin.pdf.
